Common Questions
Have a question not listed here? Reach out directly to our technical team.
mail Ask Our EngineersWhat is Ecobond and how does it differ from bitumen?
Ecobond is a Resin Modified Bitumen Emulsion (RMBE) applied via a cold-mix process. Unlike conventional bitumen, it doesn't stick to vehicle tyres or chassis, is far less temperature-sensitive, and forms a superior deep-surface support structure at a lower total cost.
Is Ecobond approved for use on national roads?
Yes. Ecobond is formally listed in COTO 2021 (Section 4.4.5.4) as a Non-Traditional Soil Stabilizer and is recognized by SANRAL/SAPEM 2013. It also holds Agrément SA certification and complies with the Department of Public Works national standard specifications.
How long does a road stabilized with Ecobond last?
Field data from operational sites shows Ecobond-stabilized roads performing with zero maintenance for up to 9 years. The product significantly reduces the maintenance lifecycle cost compared to conventional road bases.
Can Ecobond be applied to existing roads without full reconstruction?
Absolutely. This is one of Ecobond's key advantages — it is an in-situ stabilizer, meaning it reuses 100% of on-site materials. No borrow pits are required, dramatically reducing HSE risk and logistical cost for the project owner.
Is Ecobond environmentally safe?
Yes. Ecobond is a certified green product that conserves water, requires no borrow pits, and does not leach into surrounding ecosystems — unlike lignin-based products. It is safe for use near drainage systems, dams, and water infrastructure.
Do you offer training and local employment opportunities?
Yes. Eco Max Africa is committed to local community empowerment. We run dedicated skills development and training programmes, and our local batching plant model creates permanent jobs at the municipal level. This forms a core part of every project proposal.
